How to Detox Your Wardrobe

Has a wardrobe clean-out been on your to-do list for a while? Don’t know where to start? We can totally relate! It can be hard to find the motivation to tackle the mountain of clothes that greets you every time you open your wardrobe, BUT fear not: we’ve put together the ultimate guide to detoxing your wardrobe.

Learn to Let Go!

We’ve all been there: you start out with good intentions, determined to clear some space in your closet. Then as soon as you consider parting with that dress you wore once 6 years ago, you suddenly come up with a million reasons why you just might need it someday.

Girl.

We both know you’re that dress is never going to see the light of day! Learn to let go of items you no longer need or really want.

You could even take a leaf out of Carrie Bradshaw's book and ask your friends to help out...

Questions to Ask Yourself

When deciding what to keep and what gets the chop, try asking yourself these questions:
- When was the last time I wore this?
- How many times have I worn this?
- Is it an essential item?
- Is it in good condition?
- How much do I like it?
- Would I buy this now?

What to Do with Unwanted Clothes

Maybe the reason you haven’t gotten around to that wardrobe detox is because you just don’t know what to do with all of those unwanted clothes. This can mean transferring the problem from one part of the house to another, which defeats the point!

Here are a few ideas if you’re left wondering what to do:

- Donate them to a charity shop – as long as they’re in good condition and washed, most charity shops will happily take clothes off your hands

- Donate to a clothes bank – similar to a food bank, you can donate your old clothes in the same way and help the less fortunate

- Sell them – clear your closet and make some extra cash at the same time! There are plenty of websites and apps which are safe to use and make the process very easy
